Camperdown is located on the world’s third largest volcanic plain! The biggest is the Deccan Plateau in India followed by the Snake River Plateau in the USA. This means Camperdown, located in Lakes and Craters country, provides a wide range of outdoor activities, great for your next holiday.

The region’s lush pastures are home to dairy farms producing mouth-watering cheeses, which can be sampled and purchased at nearby Timboon.

Lakes and craters

Climb to the top of Mt Leura and Mt Sugarloaf and take in 360-degree views of the coastal ranges and rolling western plains. Volcanic activity has shaped much of the surrounding landscape, leaving a legacy of cones, lakes and craters to explore.

Keen anglers will enjoy the chance to catch a few trout or chinook salmon at the many nearby lakes and streams.

Winding trails

For a dose of fresh country air, climb aboard your bike and head along the Camperdown Timboon Rail Trail to take in rolling green pastures, lakes, historic trestle bridges and pristine bushland.

Gourmet Produce

With a growing reputation for fine local produce and gourmet treats, the region now attracts foodies from across the state. Bring your basket and traverse the 12 Apostles Gourmet Trail to sample everything from whisky, cheese and wine to yoghurt, strawberries and craft beer.

It’s long been said that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and Camperdown is the ideal place to spend some time and seek out a piece of treasure to take home.

Camperdown has always had a number of second-hand and collectable outlets, but there is now a record number of these shops, where you can relive your past, learn a bit about history, and take home a little piece of Camperdown.

New and Pre-loved Furniture, Art Supplies and More

Mammoth Mart has been operating on Camperdown’s main street, Manifold Street for decades. In addition to having a massive shed full of pre-loved collectables, Mammoth Mart also stocks new furniture, art and craft supplies and a well-stocked plant nursery.

A newcomer to Camperdown’s main street is Element Bazaar, operated by Paul Theologous. The yard at Element Bazaar is full of collectables, including farm machinery and implements including ploughs and harrows, telephone boxes, vehicles such as tractors and more. Inside you will find a collection of bric-a-brac and antiques. Element Bazaar is open every Friday and Saturday from 10am – 4pm or by appointment.
